ARTICLE 2: Terms of Participation
2.1 To enter the Competition, you must upload your drawing(s) on the designated website at http://www.genderequality-pictureit.org . Only those entries uploaded on this designated website will be accepted. Entry is free.
2.2 You may enter up to two drawings. You must enter all of your drawings at the same time. You can only enter your drawing(s) once.
2.3 You must enter your drawing(s) by midnight (CET) 18 September, 2017. Late entries will not be accepted. Due to the expected high volume of last-minute entries, we advise you to enter your drawing(s) well in advance of the entry deadline.
2.4 Your drawing(s) must be accompanied by a completed entry form (located on the home page) providing your name, date of birth, address, email, nationality, and country of residence.
2.5 The five successful participants (finalists) as well as 10 to 15 semi-finalists will be selected by a Panel of Judges made of at least five members. Successful participants will be notified by e-mail after the selection process.
2.6 Successful participants who receive a notification e-mail from UN Women and/or EU Delegation to Nigeria MUST respond to the notification by a return e-mail declaring acceptance. The Delegation of the EU to Nigeria and the UN Women reserve the right to reallocate the prize to another participant if a response is not received within seven days of the notification.
2.7 Names of the prize winners will be publicly announced at an Award Ceremony in Abuja during the month of November 2017. The prizes are as set out below:
- One first prize of EUR 1000,
- One second prize of EUR 500,
- Three third prizes of EUR 200 each.
The five finalists will be invited to Abuja to the Award Ceremony in November 2017. The costs of travel to Abuja from within Nigeria and accommodation will be borne by the Organizing Entities.
The prizes and invitation to the Award Ceremony are non-transferable. The winning drawings may be considered for an exhibition.
The finalists’ drawings will be published online by the Organizing Entities and may be considered for an exhibition.
2.8 The decisions of the jury are final and binding.
2.9 The Organizing Entities reserve the right to cancel, modify, suspend or delay the competition in the event of unforeseen circumstances beyond their reasonable control. The Organizing Entities also reserve the right to change, amend, delete or add to these Terms and conditions at any time.
2.10 The Organizing Entities and their officials and agents shall not be responsible or liable for any claims, demands, losses and liability of any kind or nature arising out of or in connection with your participation in this competition or your acceptance or use of the prizes awarded.
ARTICLE 3: Eligibility of participants and drawing
3.1 Eligibility of participants
3.1.1 Participants must be between the ages of 18 and 28 by 31 August 2017. Participants must provide date of birth in the entry form.
3.1.2 Participants must be Nigerians residents in Nigeria.
3.1.3 Participants must use their respective legal name and provide valid contact details along with their drawing(s).
3.2 Eligibility of drawing
3.2.1 The drawing(s) must not include words.
3.2.2 Entries must fit on one DIN A4 page (210mm x 297mm). Both portrait and landscape orientation are accepted. If a drawing comprises several pictures, the number of the pictures should not exceed six boxes and the complete drawing must fit on one DIN A4 page.
3.2.3 The resolution of the drawing(s) must be at least 150 dpi or higher. Data size is limited to 5MB per drawing. We accept jpg, jpeg, png, and pdf formats.
3.2.4 In the perspective of the Organising Entities, entries should not:
- be disrespectful of the impartiality and independence of the United Nations and the EU Delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS;
- reflect adversely on the Organising Entities;
- be incompatible with the aims and objectives of the Organising Entities;
- be derogatory to any persons depicted in the drawing;
- contain any nudity, lewd, or otherwise offensive or inappropriate content.
The Organising Entities shall not be responsible or liable for:
- a) any problem, loss or damage due to delay and/or failure in receiving and sending the entry as a result of any network, communication or system interruption or error
- b) any error, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, site failure or un-authorized access to entries.
3.2.5 Submitted drawing(s) must be original and unpublished work. Entrants represent and warrant that their submission is their original work, that it has not been copied from others, and it does not violate the rights of any other person or entity.
3.2.6 Incomplete entries or entries that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions will be automatically disqualified at the sole discretion of the Organising Entities.
Article 4: Copyright
4.1 All Competition entries become the property of the Organising Entities and will not be acknowledged or returned. The copyright in any submitted drawing(s) shall remain the property of the entrant, but entry in this Competition constitutes entrant’s irrevocable, perpetual permission and consent to the Organising Entities and others authorized by the Organising Entities without further compensation or attribution, to use, distribution, reproduce or otherwise utilize the Submitted drawing(s) in whole or in part, and the entrant’s name and city and state, by any means or methods now known or hereafter devised in any and all media now in existence or hereinafter created, throughout the world, for the duration of the copyright in the drawing(s). The entrant also consents to the Organising Entities doing (or omitting to do) any acts in respect of the submitted drawing(s) which may otherwise constitute an infringement of the entrant’s moral rights. Organising Entities and/or others authorized by the Organising Entities shall have the right to edit, adapt, and modify the submitted drawing(s).
Article 5: Indemnification
5.1 By entering your drawing(s) in this Competition you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold and save harmless, the Organising Entities, and its officials, agents, employees, consultants, sub-contractors and other representatives from and against all suits, proceedings, claims, demands, losses and liability of any kind or nature brought by any third party against the Organising Entities, including, but not limited to, all litigation costs and expenses, attorney’s fees, settlement payments and damages, based on, arising from, or relating to the Organising Entities’ use of the drawing(s). The obligations under this section do not lapse upon closure of the Competition.
